Allan J. Segall
Composer Allan Segall was born in 1959 in Brooklyn, New York, grew up in Denver, Colorado, and currently serves as Concert Director at one of Amsterdam's most visible venues, The Engelse Kerk. He received his Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Allan Segall has been widely performed throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. His music draws its inspiration from many diverse sources; from the classical world of the French Impressionists, German Expressionists and American Minimalists to the pop world of The Broadway Musical, 60's Rock & Roll and Techno. Allan Segall's work can at turns be propulsive, explosive, sweepingly lyrical, hauntingly atmospheric, hypnotic. It remains music that -- stemming from the composer's classical training -- is also elegantly, logically constructed.

Allan Segall has written for film, dance, theater and the concert hall. His works have earned directors, choreographers and film makers prestigious awards. His music has appeared at such distinguished venues as The Cleveland Museum of Art, The Chicago Auditorium Theater, The Ijsbreker and Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

His broadcasts include a performance by The Netherlands Flute Quartet June 2004 from Het Concertgebouw; and also a full-length television show broadcast in May 2005 from The Eastern Mediterranean University in Cyprus on the production and subsequent performance of his work for the guitar/violin group, Duo 46.
